UAMD & STARS EU Alliance

UAMD is part of the STARS EU Alliance. The inter-institutional collaboration of the Alliance
started back in November 2019, when HUAS initiated the establishment of the European
University Alliance.

We envision universities as regional development accelerators, which create new knowledge that
society, industries, and sectors need to innovate. They educate citizens and empower students
and lifelong learners to fully contribute to the social, economic, and cultural betterment of
society. They have the theoretical insights that underpin and challenge daily routines.
We believe that the European University modus operandi is particularly well-suited to serve our
goal, as it allows partners to collaborate on common tasks, under one identity, whilst maintaining
their freedom to act and interact with others. In our vision, universities will join forces, and
competencies, utilize synergies and complementarities, and will team up with regional actors,
collaborating in the cooperation structures (co-creation environments) – real and virtual – where
all can meet, spar, discover and create.

Stars Eu Goal

STARS EU GOAL
Our goal is to become a model for European University by implementing a long-term vision of
transforming the institutional cooperation between partners in higher education institutions and
deepening it bringing it to the next level. We aim to foster inter-regional collaboration and
become a regional development accelerator, working directly with industries and sectors in our
regions to foster relevant transition processes.
We will fulfill this role from a position of academic strength and excellence, using all our
physical and intellectual resources and drawing on the input and experience of peers
We, therefore, decided to deepen, intensify and expand our inter-institutional transnational
collaboration by establishing a European University, an alliance of like-minded institutions that
will provide mutual support to reach the goal of accelerated knowledge-based regional
development, through the higher education axis: teaching and learning; research and service to
local, national, and international communities.
STARS European University will become a role model of effective cooperation at all levels,
honoring our commitments in a transparent and measurable manner. The alliance governance
handbook will serve as a reference to keeping our rules and procedures up to date. The state of
progress will be shared openly with all actors through an online record of deliverables.
