Description of the Department of STATISTICS AND APPLIED INFORMATICS

The Department of Statistics and Applied Informatics at the Faculty of Business, "Aleksandër Moisiu" University of Durrës, is an academic unit dedicated to the development of interdisciplinary competencies in the fields of statistics and applied informatics in economics.

The “Bachelor in Economic Informatics” study program offers a balanced approach between theoretical and practical training to equip students with skills in analyzing and solving problems related to technology and economics. With a curriculum of 180 credits distributed over three academic years, this program prepares specialists in:

Design and management of business information systems.
Programming and development of computer applications.
Analysis and interpretation of economic data.
Ensuring quality and information security.

The department is comprised of a qualified staff of seven members, who hold degrees and expertise in fields such as statistics, econometrics, research methods, and information technologies. This expertise guarantees a comprehensive preparation for students, covering important topics such as economic analysis, database management, and e-business application development.

At the end of their studies, graduates are prepared to contribute to various public and private sectors, applying their knowledge in the development and implementation of modern economic informatics strategies.

Department HeadDr. Altin GJINI

Dr. Gjini graduated in Finance from New York University in Tirana and received his Bachelor of Science from the State University of New York (ESC) in 2006. In 2014, he earned his Doctor of Economic Sciences degree with the topic “Three Essays on the Economic Growth of South-Eastern European Countries” from UAMD. He has worked at Customs and as a lecturer at UAMD, teaching courses such as Microeconomics, Macroeconomics and Econometrics. Currently, he is Head of the Department of Statistics and Applied Informatics at the Faculty of Business, UAMD. Research focus: macroeconomic policy and empirical analysis of economic growth.

LecturerProf. Dr. Luljeta GJONI

Prof. Luljeta Gjoni has been an internal lecturer at the “Aleksandër Moisiu” University since 2018, currently at the Department of Statistics and Applied Informatics, Faculty of Business. With a background and specialization in Mathematics, she focuses on teaching the subjects “Mathematics”, “Mathematical Analysis” and “Financial Mathematics”.
He completed his studies at the University of Gjirokastra (1996), his Master's degree in Mathematics at the University of Tirana (2001) and his PhD at the Polytechnic University of Tirana (2006). With the title of "Associate Professor" (2011) and "Professor Doctor" (2014), he has completed postdoctoral studies in Greece.

LecturerProf. Ass. Dr. Brunela TREBICKA

Dr. Trebicka is a lecturer in the Department of Marketing at “Aleksandër Moisiu” University, Durrës. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Finance from the University of Tirana, a Master of Science in Business Administration from New York University, and a PhD in Economics from UAMD. With the title of “Associate Professor” (2015), she has experience as a manager in the private sector.
Dr. Trebicka is the author of the text “Scientific Research Methods” and over 33 scientific publications in international journals and conferences. These include: “The Cost of Firm Informality” (2016) and “The MIMIC Model for the Informal Economy” (2014).

LecturerProf. Ass. Dr. Eda BEZHANI

He completed his Bachelor and First Level Master's studies in Agribusiness at the Agricultural University of Tirana (2007) and his Second Level Master's in Agri-Food Marketing at the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute in Zaragoza, Spain (2008). He completed his PhD at the "Aleksandër Moisiu" University, Faculty of Business (2009-2014).
Since 2007, she has been an in-house lecturer in the Department of Marketing at UAMD, where she lectures on subjects such as “Scientific Research Methods” and “History of Economic Thought.” In 2015, she received the title of “Associate Professor.”

LecturerPhD Kandidat Marsida ABDUL

Marsida Abdul graduated in Economics from the University of Tirana. Since 2013, she has coordinated the SME Management and Hospitality-Tourism programs at the Faculty of Integrated Studies with Practice at UAMD, also serving as a lecturer. She has actively participated in scientific conferences and youth entrepreneurship events, such as Techstars StartUp Weekend and Startup Grind Tirana. Since January 2022, she has been a full-time lecturer at the Department of Statistics and Applied Informatics of the Faculty of Business at UAMD, where she is pursuing her doctoral studies. She is committed to motivating and developing young people.

LecturerDr. Agim NDREGJONI

Dr. Agim Ndregjoni has been a lecturer at the Department of Economic Sciences at the “Aleksandër Moisiu” University, Durrës, since February 2009. He holds a degree in Economics and a Master in Business Administration from the University of Tirana, as well as a PhD in Economic Sciences. He is also a Chartered Accountant approved by the Ministry of Finance.
He has experience as a project manager in the private sector and has presented scientific papers in national and international conferences and journals. His research areas include market analysis and regional and national economic instabilities.
