"'Aleksandër Moisiu' University of Durrës develops environmental march and recycling projects for Earth Day"

In honor of Earth Day, Environmental Education and Recycling No. 28 was held on April 23, 2024, from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., under the direction of the Rector of UAMD, Prof. Dr. Shkëlqim Fortuzi and the Dean of FSP, Assoc. Prof. Rezarta Kalaja. 

The march began with the national flag. 35m from UAMD Currila towards the Sphinx to educate all the people to join the Green Route. 

 

Results:

●Over 890 kg of plastic bottles were recycled, 320 kg from UAMD staff and students, which were sent to a recycling company, where the proceeds from the recycling were turned into 40 jasmine plants for campus greening and teaching aids for Durrës schools, where the “Qemal Mici” school provided silk curtains for the teachers’ activity room.

●Approximately 400 volunteers participated, mainly students, pupils from 7 schools in Durrës, teachers and lecturers, and the administrative staff of UAMD.

● The private company @Agroblend donated 300 kg of inorganic fertilizer for UAMD's seedlings and trees.

 

●The "Recycling Monument" - 3D over 2m tall, is being built by Nursing and Physiotherapy students in collaboration with artist-sculptor Qazim Kërtusha.

 

●The Rector of UAMD awarded certificates to the volunteers and invited them to continue the mission of Environmental Education.

 

The activity was supported by the Durrës Bar Association and @Koralfish_albania.
