Yesterday, October 7, 2025, the Rector of UAMD, Prof. Dr. Shkëlqim Fortuzi, hosted Mr. Thommaso Garofalo, Advisor to the Mayor of the Municipality of Piana degli Albanesi, the Municipality of Bari, and several Arbëresh municipalities in Italy, for international promotional activities with the Arbëresh and Albanian communities, as well as Mr. Jonadri Prodani, representative of the Rotary E-Club Durrës, 24.
During the meeting, the implementation of the recently signed agreement between UAMD, the Piana degli Albanesi Municipality and Rotary E-Club Durrës, 24, approved by the Municipal Council of the Arbëresh municipality, for the pursuit of studies at our university by Arbëresh students, a historic step towards strengthening cultural, historical and patriotic ties between UAMD and the Arbëresh community in Italy, was discussed.
Also, the meeting discussed the creation of close ties and cooperation with universities in Arbëresh regions for joint programs, summer/winter schools, and academic and cultural exchanges that serve to recognize and promote the unique Arbëresh history and tradition, a precious treasure for our nation and a rare value in world history.
