Call for applications for law students

We invite students of the Department of Justice to become part of the Law Clinic at the Faculty of Political Science and Law, as an irreplaceable academic, professional and personal experience.

“Aleksandër Moisiu” University of Durrës has opened a Legal Clinic in the academic year 2017-2018 with a staff consisting of lecturers from the Department of Law and students of this department. The purpose of the Law Clinic is to provide primary legal aid, free of charge, to persons who are economically unable to afford representation by a lawyer, by providing primary and secondary legal aid.

During its operation, the Law Clinic at UAMD has provided primary legal assistance for more than 1,200 cases, as well as represented citizens and organizations in many strategic issues of national interest.

The Law Clinic at UAMD opens a call for applications for 10 Law students who wish to be part of the Law Clinic's activities, which include:

  • Providing primary legal aid to economically disadvantaged persons;
  • Activation at the legal aid office at the Durrës Judicial District Court;
  • Development of workshops, seminars, trainings, within the framework of the Law Clinic;
  • Legal education of the public;
  • Improving skills in the field of justice through practical training;
  • Exchange of experiences with law clinics in EU countries;
  • Assistance in the administrative work of the Law Clinic, including: drafting files; interviewing, receiving citizens, appearing before state institutions, participating in court hearings and generally assisting the lawyers and advocates of the Law Clinic.
  • Applicants must have a desire to engage in community and extracurricular activities, be serious about the work they will be assigned, and be willing to handle a workload.
    The selected students will be engaged at the Clinic until the end of the 2022-2023 academic year.
    At the end of the process, participants will be provided with a corresponding Attestation and Certificate.
    For students of Master of Science profiles, this period is recognized as a professional internship, for the purpose of repaying University obligations.

Application criteria:

  • Be a third-year student of Bachelor of Laws, Professional Master of Property Law, Scientific Master of Private Law, Scientific Master of Public International Law.
  • Have a grade point average above 7.5;
  • Have good communication and teamwork skills;
  • Have a desire to be involved in issues that help the community.
  • Students who wish to apply should submit a letter of interest outlining the reasons why they would like to be part of the Law Clinic and why they believe they are suitable for selection.
  • The letter of interest will be part of the evaluation of students applying for admission to the Law Clinic. The letter of interest should be up to 500 words (one page) and should be sent with an attachment to the following e-mail addresses: dorinaasllani@yahoo.com; marsi_muca@yahoo.it.

    After the preliminary assessment, shortlisted students will be called for an interview.
