On December 5-6, 2024, an important capacity-building training was organized at the Hamburg University of Technology within the framework of the @Zero C Project, funded by the European Union, where our university has the role of leader.
This activity brought together academic staff and experts from higher education institutions in the Western Balkans, with the aim of improving their knowledge and skills in preparing future generations for a zero-carbon society in maritime transport and logistics.
The training included a series of activities and interactive sessions, where participants had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge on key topics such as:
- Improving energy efficiency and decarbonization in port operations, focusing on implementing technologies and best practices that reduce emissions.
- Maritime logistics simulations with AnyLogic, a modern software that enables the modeling and analysis of complex systems, helping to optimize maritime transport processes.
- Advanced strategies for decarbonization, including the optimization of port calls and the implementation of schedule reservation systems, aimed at reducing ship dwell times and energy consumption.

The trainings were accompanied by open discussions and exchange of experiences among participants, creating a valuable platform for regional and international cooperation.
This training marks an important moment for the @Zero C project:
Giving impetus to sustainable and energy-efficient solutions for the maritime sector. At the same time, this activity strengthens the leading role of higher education in the Western Balkans in driving the transformation towards a green and decarbonized future.
