The Rector of the University “Aleksandër Moisiu”, Prof. Dr. Kseanela Sotirofski and the Dean of the Faculty of Professional Studies, Prof. As. Dr. Osman Metalla, received today a delegation from Zara, Croatia, headed by the Mayor of the city, Mr. Branko Dukić.
Part of the delegation were also Mr. Anton Dedaj, Honorary Consul of Albania in Zadar and activist for the Albanian cause; Ms. Dina Bušić, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports in the Municipality of Zadar; and Mr. Denis Ikić, President of the Zadar Chamber of Commerce.
During this meeting, possibilities for cooperation between UAMD, the Municipality of Zadar, the University there and other local actors were discussed, for the implementation of projects and activities of mutual interest, as well as increasing the impact in the field of research and sustainable development of both cities. This cooperation comes naturally due to the centuries-old ties between Albania and Zadar.
Most importantly, the University of Zadar itself, as it states on its official website, was founded in the 4th century as a continuation of the Medieval University of Durrës, with its first rector Gjon Durrsaku.
