Within the framework of the Cooperation Agreement signed between the Faculty of Political and Legal Sciences, "Aleksandër Moisiu" University of Durrës and the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Albania, a commemorative activity was organized on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of the Liberation of Kosovo.
This activity was attended by students of the second cycle of studies, Master in International and Diplomatic Relations, under the academic supervision of Ms. Mirela Metushaj.
A special part of this organization was the lecture given by the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo, Sh.T.Z. Shkënder Durmishi, who brought to attention the historical significance of this day, which marks the end of a dark period of persecution, violence, destruction and crimes committed by the Serbian regime against the Albanian population in Kosovo.
Ambassador Durmishi emphasized the importance of the date June 12, 1999, when, after 78 days of military intervention by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), led by the United States of America, against Serbian-Montenegrin military targets, KFOR peacekeeping troops entered Kosovo. This international intervention ended the bloody and nearly two-year war between the Kosovo Liberation Army and Serbian-Montenegrin military and police forces, paving the way for peace and the statehood of Kosovo.
The Faculty of Political Science and Law, UAMD, expresses its special gratitude to the Ambassador of the Republic of Kosovo to Albania, H.E. Shkënder Durmishi, for his valuable presence and lecture, and thanks the students for their active participation in this activity of historical and academic importance.
