Description of the Information Technology Department
The Department of Information Technology is one of the three basic constituent units of the Faculty of Information Technology. This department aims to create, transmit, and develop knowledge through teaching and scientific research. Also, the staff of lecturers of the Department aims to form and prepare new specialists in the fields of Information Technology based on contemporary and qualitative curricula appropriate to the labor market in Albania and other Western countries.
This department guarantees the quality and fulfillment of academic standards for all study programs in Information Technology, Information Systems and Multimedia and Digital Television. The Department of Information Technology aims to promote, support and develop scientific activities for lecturers and students; for graduate students, it cooperates with public institutions and private businesses for their employment.
Staff:
Dr. Fatmira Prodani is a full-time lecturer at the Faculty of Information Technology, at the “Aleksandër Moisiu” University of Durrës, since 2015, focusing mainly on Multimedia and Digital Television courses such as: 3D Computer Animation, Animation Basics, Multimedia Production and Promotion. , Multimedia Programs, Visual Effects, Stop Motion Animation, etc. She holds the title of MSc in “Business Informatics” and in July 2019 she completed her doctoral studies with the topic “Implementation of IPTV in Albania and the region”. From 2008 - 2010 she worked as a teacher at the Beqir Ҫela Vocational High School, initially part-time and after a year full-time. During the years 2010-2015 she was the head of the professional practice for studies oriented in “Practical Informatics”, an initiative of the ALBVET project in collaboration with the “Aleksandër Moisiu” University and the “Beqir Cela” Vocational School in Durrës. During the period of managing the professional practice, Fatmira Prodani completed trainings at the ZLI company in Zurich and Noser Yang Professionals in Bern, Switzerland on the topic “Integration of theoretical and practical studies”. Fatmira Prodani has been focused and interested in the field of 2D and 3D Animation since 2016 and has conducted a series of trainings and research in this field. From 2020 onwards, she holds the position of head of the Information Technology Base Unit.
Prof.Asc. Dr. Admir Barolli graduated from the Agricultural University of Tirana in April 2008. From October 2009 to June 2010, he was a Visiting Researcher at Curtin University, Perth, Australia. In 2011, he was a Visiting Researcher at Seikei University, Tokyo, Japan. In March 2012, he graduated from the Fukuoka Institute of Technology as a PhD. From January 2013 to 2014, he worked as a lecturer at the Canadian Institute of Technology, Tirana, Albania. He has held the position of Head of the Department of Industrial Engineering for Master programs and has also been the coordinator for the Master in the Faculty of Engineering. He lectures on various topics such as Advanced Algorithms and Data Structures I & II, Analysis and Design of Information Systems, Wireless Networks: LAN and WAN. From March 2014 to July 2014, he worked as a Lecturer at Kristal University, Tirana, where he taught Information Systems Security. From July 2014 to June 2015, he completed his Post Doctorate studies at the University of Salerno and was a lecturer and Head of the Department of Applied Informatics at LOGOS University, Tirana. Currently, he is a lecturer at the “Aleksander Moisiu” University of Durrës, where he teaches Network Topologies, Computer Network Design, Computer Network Security, Information Systems and Computer Networks I & II. On January 17, 2021, he received the title of Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Tirana. He has knowledge in various languages and programs, such as Java, C++, PHP, MYSQL, Web Design, Javascript, CSS, HTML, Matlab, Wireshark, Latex, CISCO Packet Tracer, NS2 and NS3. He has been working in the Agriculture Sectors in Albania for many years. His research interests are in genetics, genetic algorithms, agricultural engineering, climate change, global warming, intelligent algorithms, computer networks, ad-hoc networks, networks of networks and P2P systems.
Dr. Alma Stana is a full-time lecturer at the Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Information Technology, at the “Aleksandër Moisiu” University of Durrës, since 2006. Eng. Alma Stana graduated in Electronic Engineering at the University of Tirana, Albania. She then pursued postgraduate studies in Computer Science at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Tirana. She holds a PhD in Information Systems from the University of Tirana since 2013. Her research interests are related to Maritime Information Systems, e-Business and Intelligent Solutions. She has published several papers in scientific journals as well as several textbooks. She is the author of many conference papers in the field of Information Systems framework. Dr. Stana researches, among other things, the evolution of the digital transformation of our economies and societies.
Dr. Ing. Nikollaq Terezi is a research lecturer at the Department of Information Technology, part of the Faculty of Information Technology at the “Aleksandër Moisiu” University, Durrës. He graduated from the “University of Tirana” in 1985 in the Electronic Engineering department, and in 2017 he received the Doctor of Science degree from the University of Tirana.
In the period 1994-1995, he completed Post Master studies in Germany in the field of telecommunications and their management. He then specialized for one-month and weekly periods in Sweden, Italy and Greece at the companies NOKIA, ALCATEL and OTE.
In 1996-1998 he was the director of the international telecom center at ALBtelcom.sha, in 1999-2005 he was the Director of the Technical Department at AMC today Telekom, and in the periods 1993-94 and 2008-2010 he was the technical director at Albtelecom and Eagle Mobile.
In 2010-2014, as Director of the State Examinations Directorate at the Ministry of Education, he conducted the Regulated Professions Examinations for the first time with a computer-based program.

Dr. Luçiana Toti was born in Tirana on May 12, 1968. She completed her studies at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, Faculty of Information Technology as an Electrical Engineer in 1991, and completed her doctoral studies on the topic "Economic and ecological benefits of using photovoltaic systems in Albania" in 2015. 1991-1995: Electrical Engineer at the Refrigerator Company No. 3. Tasks performed: design and implementation of new low and medium voltage electrical works, as well as design and reconstruction of facilities, maintenance of the machinery rooms of the refrigeration rooms, maintenance of the lighting system of the refrigeration rooms and the entire surrounding environment, maintenance of the telephone system of the administrative staff offices, maintenance of two elevators, reconstruction of the Brar refrigeration center, etc. 1995-2001: Teacher of vocational subjects at the Electrical School. 2001-2010: Teacher at the "HARRY FULTZ" Institute for the subjects: Electrical Engineering, Electronic Principles, Power Electronics, etc. 2012-2018: Pedagoge (part time) në Albanian University, Tiranë. 2010 and onwards: Full-time lecturer at the University "Aleksandër Moisiu", Durrës. Courses taught: Computer Applications, Computer Architecture, Digital Logic, Analog Electronics, etc. August 2014 Member of the Technical Working Group (TWG) at the request of the Ministry of Energy and Industry and the Ministry of Urban Development and Tourism for the first draft of the "Energy Performance in Buildings" law proposed by DPEN for Albania. March 2017 –October 2020: Head of the Department of Information Technology at the Faculty of Information Technology at the University "Aleksandër Moisiu", Durrës. Dr. Luçiana TOTI is the author of several lecture series, several texts approved by MARS, publications in international scientific journals, participant in more than 16 national and international conferences, as well as coordinator of two Erasmus + projects, where UAMD is a partner institution.
Dr. Frida GJERMENI is a full-time lecturer at the "Aleksandër Moisiu" University, at the Faculty of Information Technology, at the Department of Information Technology.
Information, since October 2016. For 4 years she has been an IT Specialist, in the Directorate of
IT and Registrations, as well as being engaged as part-time academic staff in
Faculty of Information Technology at this University. She also has experience
as a part-time lecturer at the University of Tirana and the University College of Business.
Frida Gjermeni has completed her higher education at the Faculty of Information Technology, in
Polytechnic University of Tirana, and holds a "Bachelor" and "Master of Science" degree in
Computer Engineer. In January 2019, he completed his Doctorate studies at the University of
International University of Struga, in Macedonia, receiving the title Doctor of Computer Science
Her research interests include e-learning systems and supporting multimedia technologies. She is a participant in several international conferences.
Dr. Amarildo Rista has completed his Bachelor (2012) and Master of Science (2014) studies in Electronic Engineering, at the Polytechnic University of Tirana. In 2022, he received the title of “Doctor” in Computer Science, at the Faculty of Contemporary Sciences and Technologies, South East European University. His research field focuses on Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP). He holds lectures and seminars at the Faculty of Information Technology, UAMD. He is the author and co-author of several publications in national and international journals and conferences.
Ph.D. Cand. Edmira Xhaferra is a full-time lecturer in the Department of Information Technology at the Faculty of Information Technology at the “Aleksandër Moisiu” University of Durrës. She holds a Bachelor and Master degree from the Polytechnic University of Tirana, specializing in Telecommunication Engineering. Currently, she is a PhD student in Computer Science at the South East European University. Xhaferra is certified by Cisco in Routing and Switching (CCNA Certified Network Associate in Routing and Switching). Furthermore, she holds certifications from MikroTik, including MikroTik Certified Network Associate (MTCNA) and MikroTik Certified Routing Engineer (MTCRE). She is actively involved in Erasmus+ and national projects and is the author or co-author of several publications in journals and conferences indexed by Scopus.
Ph.D. Cand. Elton Tata is a lecturer at Aleksandër Moisiu University, Durrës. In the period 2016-2018 he was a part-time lecturer, and since 2019 a full-time lecturer. He has completed his Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering and Master of Science in Electronic Engineering, at the Polytechnic University of Tirana. Some of the subjects he covers are: Digital Logic, Computer Architecture, Digital Signal Processing, Broadcast Television Systems. He is currently a PhD candidate at the South East European University, in North Macedonia, in the Computer Science profile. His research field includes Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Networking in Internet Service Providers and Cloud Computing.
He has been pursuing his doctoral studies at the Technical University of Sofia since July 2022 on the topic “Development of a virtual model (digital twin) in a port”. He has completed his Master of Science studies in “Telecommunications Engineering” at the Polytechnic University of Tirana and his Bachelor’s degree in “Telecommunications Engineering” at the Polytechnic University of Tirana.

PhD (Candidate) Luan Sinanaj is a lecturer in the Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Information Technology at the University “Aleksandër Moisiu”, Durrës. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in “Informatics” and a first-level Master’s degree from the University of Pisa (Italy), as well as a Master of Science in “Economic Informatics”. He is currently a PhD student in Computer Science at the South East European University, in Tetovo, North Macedonia.
He is certified by Cisco, Cisco Certified Network Associate Routing and Switching (CCNA Routing and Switching) in 2012. Phd (c) Luan Sinanaj is the author and co-author of several publications in scientific journals, national conferences, international conferences, as well as the publisher of the book “Balazat e Programimit në Java”.
MSc. Hasan Voci completed his higher education in 2020 at the Faculty of Information Technology, Polytechnic University of Tirana, and holds a “Bachelor” and “Master of Science” degree in Electronic Engineering. Since October 2021, he has been part of the part-time academic staff at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, where he covers the courses Electronic Measurements and Electronics for Telecommunications. In 2023, he became part of the full-time academic staff at the “Aleksandër Moisiu” University of Durrës, where he covers several courses at the Faculty of Information Technology.

MSc. Uendi Çerma is a lecturer at Aleksandër Moisiu University, Durrës. She has completed her Bachelor's degree, Professional Master's degree in Multimedia and Digital Television and a second Master's degree in Applied Computer Science at the ''Aleksandër Moisiu'' University of Durrës. She joined the university as an academic assistant at the audio-video laboratory in 2018, also engaging in the implementation of several projects funded by the European Union. She is currently engaged as a full-time lecturer at the Department of Information Technology and some of the subjects she covers are: Electroacoustics, Image Processing, Multimedia Production and Post Production, Ambient Acoustics. MSc. Alsa Kaziu is a lecturer at the Department of Information Technology, Faculty of Information Technology at “Aleksandër Moisiu” University, Durrës. She is continuing her doctoral studies at the Institute of Information and Communication Technology, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia, Bulgaria. The research topic for the dissertation is titled: “Optimization Methods in Information Systems in Economics. She has completed her studies in Informatics-Economics (Bachelor, 2009-2012) at the Faculty of Economics, University of Tirana and MSc. MSc. Damiana Teliti , is a dedicated specialist in the field of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Pattern Recognition. As an experienced data scientist, she uses her skills in analyzing large data sets by implementing advanced machine learning models. With in-depth knowledge of Python, she aims to create innovative solutions to practical challenges of organizations and industries.
She also has extensive experience in the academic field, having worked as a lecturer at various universities in the country, where she has contributed to research and teaching on advanced technologies.
