Description of the Department

The Department of Medical Technical Sciences is one of the three main units of the Faculty of Professional Studies, with an internal academic staff of 13 members. It is composed of a young team, yet with extensive experience in teaching and scientific research. The department leads with dedication the academic and professional journeys of its students. It manages with quality and responsibility the study programs in both cycles – Bachelor and Master, as well as in the two-year program for Dental Assistance.

The programs managed by our department are:

  • The Professional Master's Program "Surgical Nursing"

The academic staff of the department places special emphasis on scientific research, promoting the name of "Aleksandër Moisiu" University of Durrës (UAMD) through active participation in national and international scientific conferences, publications in scientific journals with and without impact factors, and achievements in obtaining scientific titles and degrees.

With an unwavering focus on the student community, academic-scientific community, and the local community, the department members work intensively and responsibly to improve healthcare. They contribute to the care of patients hospitalized in the Regional Hospital for medical, surgical, obstetric-gynecological, pediatric, and physiotherapeutic issues. Additionally, the staff is dedicated to patients in healthcare centers and counseling centers for Mother and Child, also focusing on disease prevention and vaccination programs.

Staff:

Department HeadProf. Asoc. Marsida Krasniqi

Prof. Assoc. Marsida Krasniqi holds the position of Head of the Department of Medical Technical Sciences and is a member of the Academic Senate of "Aleksandër Moisiu" University in Durrës. She is also an ophthalmologist at the "At Luigji Monti" Polyclinic, Zoja e Këshillit të Mirë in Tirana. She earned the academic title of Associate Professor at the University of Medicine in Tirana. She holds an integrated degree from the "Zoja e Këshillit të Mirë" University and "Tor Vergata" University (MD in Medicine and Surgery) from "Tor Vergata University" in Rome, Italy (Licensed in Medicine and Surgery), and a PhD in Public Health, Molecular Diagnosis of Infectious Diseases, and Pharmacovigilance from the "Zoja e Këshillit të Mirë" University.

LecturerJorida Zoga

She completed the Faculty of Medicine in General Medicine in 2002. In 2008, she specialized as a clinical biochemical laboratory doctor. In 2010, she completed her Second-Level Master's degree in Turin, Italy, with the thesis: "Treatment of Hemoglobinopathies." Meanwhile, she defended her PhD dissertation between 2008 and 2021, with the topic: "Laboratory assessment of endocrine disorders and their impact on bone metabolism in hemoglobinopathies." She worked as a specialist doctor at the Hemoglobinopathy Center in Lushnjë, and since 2022, she has been a lecturer at "Aleksandër Moisiu" University in Durrës.

LecturerMajlinda Kallço

Majlinda Kallço was born on May 7, 1971, in Durrës. She is currently a full-time lecturer at UAMD since 2019. She is the author of several scientific articles in national and international journals and has participated in numerous National and International Scientific Conferences. She completed her higher studies at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Medicine, graduating in General Medicine. From 2003 to 2006, she specialized as a Clinical Biochemical Laboratory Doctor at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Biochemistry. From 2010 to 2020, she pursued her PhD studies at the University of Tirana, Faculty of Medicine, with the doctoral thesis titled "The role of tumor markers and cellular indicators in the diagnosis and laboratory monitoring of malignant pathologies of the digestive system." She has also served as a part-time lecturer at various universities in subjects such as Histology, Pathology, Internal Medicine, and Dietology.

LecturerENIS URUCI

She completed her studies at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tirana, specializing in Dentistry, with good results, from 2003 to 2008. She then completed an internship from August 1, 2008, to January 31, 2009, as a dentist at the Renis Clinic in Tirana. From August 31, 2009, to December 16, 2011, she worked as a dentist at the Vizion Dental Clinic in Shkodër. Between 2008 and 2012, she pursued a second degree at the “Aleksandër Xhuvani” University in Elbasan, Faculty of Economics, Department of Business Administration. In 2018, she completed postgraduate studies (PhD) in the Faculty of Economics, Department of Business Management, through the Doctoral Program organized by the European University of Tirana, where she defended her thesis.

LecturerEMIRJETA KUNIQI

She completed her studies at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tirana, specializing in General Medicine, with excellent results, from 2001 to 2007. She then completed a one-year internship as a volunteer at Health Center No. 9 in Tirana. Between 2011 and 2015, she completed the third cycle of studies in "Long-Term Specializations in Medicine" with a focus on Pediatrics, at the Department of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, UMT (University of Medicine in Tirana), QSUT, ‘Mother Teresa’ Hospital in Tirana. Since June 20, 2010, she has been a full-time lecturer at the "Aleksandër Moisiu" University in Durrës, Faculty of Professional Studies, Department of Medical Sciences.

LecturerDr. Daniela Haxhihyseni

Dr. Daniela Haxhihyseni has been a lecturer in the Department of Medical Technical Sciences at "Aleksandër Moisiu" University, Durrës, since 2019. She holds a degree in General Medicine from the Faculty of Medicine in Tirana and from the University of Medicine Careggi in Florence, Italy. She has over 15 years of experience as an external lecturer at several universities in Albania, teaching subjects such as internal medicine, geriatrics, pathological anatomy, and infectious diseases. She successfully completed her Master's in Nephrology in 2007 and her PhD in 2012 at the University of Medicine, Tirana. She is specialized in Internal Medicine and Hypertension.

LecturerPhd.Cand.Irida Hoxha

PhD Cand. Irida Hoxha is a lecturer in the Department of Medical Technical Sciences at "Aleksandër Moisiu" University, Durrës. She is also a microbiologist at the Intermedica Laboratory in Durrës. She completed her higher education at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tirana, specializing in General Medicine. PhD Cand. Hoxha has undergone extensive training and specialization at the University of Medicine, Tirana (Specialization in Microbiology). She is the author and co-author of numerous scientific publications both nationally and internationally.

LecturerDr. Migena Prifti

Dr. Migena Prifti is a lecturer at UAMD, in the Department of Medical Technical Sciences. She graduated from the Faculty of Medicine in Tirana and specialized as an obstetrician-gynecologist at the same faculty. She worked as an obstetrician-gynecologist at SRD for 17 years and currently continues her professional practice at the NENA gynecological clinic. She is certified in several subspecialties, including fetal ultrasound, colposcopy, and gynecological aesthetics. She earned her Doctorate in Medical Sciences with the thesis: "Fetal Complications According to Trimesters in Gestational Diabetes." Dr. Prifti has participated in numerous national and international conferences, some of which she attended as a lecturer. She is the author and co-author of several scientific publications in national and international medical journals. She has also published the book "GYNECOLOGY" for the MAMI Bachelor program.

LecturerPhd. Cand. Eris Nepravishta

Eris Nepravishta joined the academic staff of the Department of Medical Sciences at the Faculty of Professional Studies, "Aleksandër Moisiu" University in Durrës, as a full-time lecturer in 2019. Born and residing in Tirana, she completed her higher education in 2004 at the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ankara University, Department of Pharmacy, earning the title of Pharmacist. As a result of her previous and current experiences in entrepreneurship and management, she possesses excellent skills in pharmaceutical marketing and distribution, storage, classification, selection, as well as in ensuring legislative compliance.  

LecturerDr. Aida ZOTAJ (Lako)

Dr. Aida Zotaj (Lako) is a lecturer in the Department of Medical Technical Sciences at "Aleksandër Moisiu" University, Durrës. She earned her academic title of Doctor in the field of Physiotherapy from the University of Medicine in Tirana, Faculty of Medical Technical Sciences. She holds an integrated degree from "Zoja e Këshillit të Mirë" University and "TorVergata" University (Bachelor's in Physiotherapy). Currently, she is leading the following projects: 1. "Equipping the Physiotherapy Cabinet with additional equipment, UAMD" and 2. "The impact of advanced physiotherapy rehabilitation on patients with Parkinson's disease, offered in the Physiotherapy Cabinet at UAMD and in the homes of patients who are unable to move."

LecturerMsc. Tiziana Ceka

MSc. Tiziana Ceka is a lecturer in the Department of Medical Technical Sciences at "Aleksandër Moisiu" University, Durrës. She completed her studies in the field of Pharmacy and earned her Master of Science degree in Pharmacy from the "Albanian University" in 2013. Since 2013, she has worked in the private sector of pharmaceutical distribution and marketing. After finishing her studies, she worked as a pharmacist at various pharmaceutical establishments. Between 2014 and 2016, she served as a "Pharmaceutical Specialist" at DRFSDKSH, Durrës. Since October 2018, she has been working as a full-time lecturer and Vice President of the Student Conference at "Aleksandër Moisiu" University, Durrës.

LecturerDr. Violeta ZANAJ

Dr. Violeta Zanaj is a lecturer at "Aleksandër Moisiu" University in Durrës, in the Department of Medical Technical Sciences. She completed her higher education at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Tirana, specializing in General Nursing. She also studied at the Faculty of Natural Sciences at the University of Tirana, Department of Biochemistry. She completed a certification in "The First Graduate in Pedagogy" in Geneva/Switzerland (organized with both classroom hours and project work in both Tirana and Switzerland). Additionally, she holds a Second-Level Master's degree.

LecturerPhD (c) Selda Sokoli (Veizaj)

PhD (c) Selda Sokoli (Veizaj) is a lecturer in the Department of Medical Technical Sciences at "Aleksandër Moisiu" University, Durrës. She completed her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Medical Sciences at the University of Medicine, Tirana, with assistance from professors from Belgium. Currently, she is pursuing her Doctoral studies at the University of Sports in Tirana. She has been a lecturer in the Physiotherapy program since 2013, working both full-time and part-time at various public and private higher education institutions. With over 10 years of experience in scientific research, she has participated in national and international conferences, contributing to more than 40 references and 11 full articles as the first author and co-author. PhD (c) Sokoli is the author of several lecture series and texts on Pediatric Rehabilitation and holds multiple training certifications in her field as a Physiotherapist.

LecturerDr. Indrit Bimi

Dr. Indrit Bimi is a lecturer at the Department of Medical Technical Sciences, Faculty of Professional Studies, "Aleksandër Moisiu" University, Durrës. He holds a PhD from the University of National and World Economy, Sofia, Bulgaria. He also holds a Master's degree in Nursing from the University of Medicine, Tirana, and a Master's degree in Nursing Management from the University of Tirana. He completed his Bachelor's degree in Nursing at "Luigj Gurakuqi" University.
He has worked in management as a Head Nurse and currently works in international companies as a "Business Development Manager" for several years. He has extensive experience in the field of teaching. Currently, he also holds the position of a member of the Permanent Commission for Quality and Standards Assurance at "Aleksandër Moisiu" University.

Lecturer Orion Muçaj

Orion Muçaj is a full-time lecturer at "Aleksandër Moisiu" University, Durrës, since June 1, 2010. He earned the title of "Dentist" from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Tirana, ranking among the top students in the Dental Medicine program (5-year) in 2007. He completed his postgraduate studies (Long-Term Specialization in Medicine) in the specialty of "Dental Therapy" in 2013. Dr. Muçaj is the first author of several scientific articles published in medical journals. At the Department of Medicine, he teaches courses in Dental Therapy, Dental Orthopedics, and Oral Mucosal Diseases. Dr. Muçaj has extensive and rich experience in the field of teaching.
