Department of Finance and Accounting is one of the five core units of the Faculty of Business. This department has experienced continuous growth, both in the number of study programs it offers at all three levels of study, as well as in the capacity to admit students, making it the department with the largest number of students within the Faculty of Business.
The department aims to shape graduates who are technically competent, capable of thinking independently, critically evaluating situations, and acting responsibly and ethically. It also focuses on preparing individuals who contribute positively to employers and the community, and who are collaborative in their professional environments.

The Department of Finance and Accounting has already established a tradition of organizing open lectures with the participation of well-known personalities from the field of economics, representatives of state institutions, and various professionals. During these lectures, they share their knowledge and experiences with students. These activities are held with broad participation from students and academic staff, contributing to the expansion of students' knowledge and practical experiences.

Dr. Rovena Troplini Vangjel has been the Head of the Department of Finance and Accounting (UAMD) since September 2020. She has been a lecturer at UAMD since 2009. She holds a PhD in Economic Sciences since 2016 from UAMD. Her field of study is financial development and economic growth. During this time, she has held various administrative positions, such as Head of the Finance course group and Coordinator of the BSc Banking and Finance study program for at least two years.
She has lectured several courses in the Bachelor and Master study programs, including 'Financial Markets and Institutions' and 'Risk Management'. Dr. Vangjel is also a part-time lecturer at UBT. She is a co-author and scientific editor of books, a reviewer for indexed journals, and the author of over a dozen publications in esteemed journals and at international conference proceedings. Additionally, she has held positions as Project Manager and expert in various projects. She is a member of the Executive Committee and the Scientific Committee of ISBF 11-13 at UAMD, a Messenger of ASUE, a member of the ITEMA conference, and a member of COST.
Shkëlqim Fortuzi has been a Professor at the Department of Finance and Accounting since 2013 and has been the Dean of the Faculty of Business at the 'Aleksandër Moisiu' University of Durrës since 2020.
His research is in the field of Cost Accounting, Managerial Accounting, and Taxation.
His specific research focuses on the analysis of the cost of finished products and semi-finished products at all stages, based on the traditional system and the ABC system.
His research also focuses on calculating the break-even point, cost-volume-profit analysis, for each good or product based on specific activities.
An important element of the research is also the planning system, according to the plan-implementation-control-action scheme.
He is the author of a monograph in Germany, the author of two books (Cost and Management Accounting, Taxation), and more than 35 articles and various scientific publications, both national and international, of which 14 have impact factors.
He has participated in teaching outside of Albania, in countries such as Kosovo, North Macedonia, and as a visiting lecturer within the Erasmus program at the University of Lublin, Poland. His published articles and conference papers address issues in the fields of fiscal policies, informality, tax performance in Albania, problems in the banking sector, public and personal finance, and more.
Shqipe Xhaferri has been a lecturer since 2008 in the Department of Finance and Accounting at “Aleksandër Moisiu” University. Her field of study and specialization is in Accounting. She was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor, Ph.D. in 2022.
She graduated from the Agricultural University of Tirana with an Integrated Second-Level Degree in Agrarian Economics (1993). She completed a Scientific Master's Degree in Business Management and Agribusiness at the Agricultural University of Tirana (2006) and earned her Doctorate in Economic Sciences from the University of Durrës (2015).
Shqipe Xhaferri is the author and co-author of over a dozen publications in scientific journals and regional, national, and international conferences, primarily focused on the fields of accounting and finance.
Jonida Lamçja Methasani has been a lecturer since 2012 in the Department of Finance and Accounting at “Aleksandër Moisiu” University. Her field of study and specialization is in Banking and Finance. She began her doctoral studies in 2021 at the Faculty of Business, UAMD. Her teaching focuses on the subjects "Insurance Companies," "Financial Basics," and "Financial Management."
She graduated from Aleksandër Xhuvani University with an Integrated Second-Level Degree in Finance and Accounting (2010). She completed a Scientific Master's Degree in Banking and Finance at Aleksandër Moisiu University (2013).
Jonida Lamçja Methasani is the author and co-author of publications in regional, national, and international articles and conferences. Her work addresses issues in the fields of finance, insurance, and the banking sector.
Prof. Asoc. Dr. Bitila Shosha has been a lecturer at the Department of Finance and Accounting, Faculty of Business, at Aleksandër Moisiu University, Durrës, since 2009. She was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor, Ph.D., in June 2023. In December 2014, she earned her Doctorate in Economic Sciences in the field of Banking and Finance at the same university. Prof. Shosha holds a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance and a Scientific Master's Degree in Economics from the Agricultural University of Tirana.
From 2005 to 2009, Prof. Asoc. Dr. Bitila Shosha held the position of Head Accountant at the General Directorate of Local Taxation, Municipality of Tirana. Since 2018, alongside her role as a lecturer, she has also held two significant positions in the Department of Finance and Accounting: Coordinator of Scientific Research and Coordinator of the "Professional Master's in Banking and Finance" program. Prof. Shosha is a dedicated lecturer with over 10 years of experience teaching courses such as Accounting Fundamentals, Investments, Business Analysis, and Evaluation.
Prof. Asoc. Dr. Bitila Shosha is the co-author of a comprehensive lecture series on "Investments". She is also the author and co-author of numerous publications in regional, national, and international scientific journals and conferences. Additionally, she has actively participated in scientific events and publications as a member of scientific committees, editorial boards, and as a mentor in scientific conferences, further demonstrating her commitment to academic and professional excellence.
MSc. Selma Kaçaniku has been a lecturer in the Department of Finance and Accounting at Aleksandër Moisiu University, Durrës, since 2015. She began her doctoral studies in 2021 at the Faculty of Business, UAMD. Additionally, she has been a part-time lecturer at the Faculty of Economics in Elbasan since 2013. Her expertise covers the fields of Accounting, Finance, and Banking. MSc. Kaçaniku graduated from Aleksandër Moisiu University with a Bachelor's Degree in Banking and Finance (2011) and a Scientific Master's Degree in Banking and Finance (2013).
MSc. Selma Kaçaniku is the author and co-author of over a dozen publications in scientific journals with impact factors and indexed by Scopus, as well as in regional, national, and international conferences. Her research primarily focuses on the fields of accounting and finance.
Dr. Armela Anamali has been a lecturer in the Department of Finance and Accounting at Aleksandër Moisiu University, Durrës, since 2009. She earned her Doctorate in Economic Sciences from the same university in April 2015. In her earlier academic formation, Dr. Anamali obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting and Finance and a Scientific Master's Degree in Financial Management from the University of Tirana.
During her years at Aleksandër Moisiu University, Dr. Armela Anamali has held various roles, including: Member of the Ethics Council. Evaluator for Internal Assessment of study programs, departments, and faculties. Member of Committees for the recruitment of academic staff. Since 2018, she has served as the Coordinator of the Master of Science in Finance and Accounting program. Dr. Anamali has taught several courses over the years, including Accounting Fundamentals, Financial Accounting, and National Accounting Standards, among others.

Dr. Juliana Imeraj has been a lecturer since 2013 in the Department of Finance and Accounting at Aleksandër Moisiu University. Her field of study and specialization is in Banking and Finance.
She graduated from the Faculty of Economics, University of Tirana, with a degree in Finance and Accounting (2005). She completed a Scientific Master's Degree in European Economic Studies at the University of Tirana (2007) and earned the title of Doctor of Economic Sciences from Aleksandër Moisiu University, Durrës (2016).
She was certified with the title of "Certified Accountant" in 2010.
She has 9 years of experience in the banking system, with a focus on the field of credit.
She is the author of the lecture series "Bank Management" and co-author of the lecture series "Financial Markets and Institutions." She is also the author and co-author of over a dozen publications in scientific journals and regional, national, and international conferences.
Dr. Ada Aliaj has been a lecturer in the Department of Finance and Accounting at Aleksandër Moisiu University, Durrës, since 2009. She also served as the Head of the Department from 2012 to 2020. Her expertise covers the fields of Finance and Banking.
She graduated from the Faculty of Economics, University of Tirana, with a degree in Finance (2007). She completed a Master's Degree in Accounting and Auditing at the same faculty (2010) and earned the title of Doctor of Economic Sciences in 2014.
Previously, Dr. Ada Aliaj held the position of Branch Director at NBG Bank, Shkozet-Durrës (2007-2009). She is the author and co-author of over a dozen publications in scientific journals and regional, national, and international conferences. Since 2022, Dr. Ada Aliaj has served as the Chair of the Board for Aleksandër Moisiu University.
Ikbale Tota has been a lecturer since 2012 in the Department of Finance and Accounting at Aleksandër Moisiu University. Her field of study and specialization is in Accounting.
She graduated from the Agricultural University of Tirana with an Integrated Second-Level Degree in Economics and Agribusiness (2009). She completed a Scientific Master's Degree in Financial Management at the same university (2012) and earned her Doctorate in Accounting from the Agricultural University of Tirana in 2018.
She was certified as an "Internal Auditor in the Public Sector" in 2010 and as a "Consultant in Taxation and Customs" in 2012.
Ikbale Tota is the author and co-author of over a dozen publications in scientific journals and regional, national, and international conferences, primarily focused on the fields of accounting and finance.
Docent Dr. Hysen Hoda has been a lecturer in the Department of Finance and Accounting at Aleksandër Moisiu University, Durrës, since 2010, when he was awarded the title of Docent at the Faculty of Business. He has led the Department of Finance and Accounting since its establishment, playing a key role in designing the curricula for several Bachelor’s and Master’s (Scientific and Professional) programs within the department. Additionally, he has been part of the working group responsible for drafting the Doctoral Program at the Faculty of Business.
His research focuses on Financial Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, and Accounting Standards. Specifically, his work is centered on the analysis of national and international accounting standards.
He is the author of the book "Accounting: Exercises and Practice" and co-author of the book "Principles of Accounting". Additionally, he has published over 20 scientific articles and papers in national and international journals and conferences, including in Austria, Italy, Romania, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Hungary, and others.
He has participated as a guest lecturer under the Erasmus program at the University of Latvia. He earned the title of Doctor in 2015 in the field of Accounting Information Systems at Aleksandër Moisiu University, Durrës.

She earned her academic title of Doctor in 2023 at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE), Bulgaria. Her specialization is in the field of Finance and Banking. She teaches various courses, including Financial Basics, Financial Management, Intermediate Financial Management, and Banking and Financial Systems of the EU. Enida Istrefi graduated from Aleksandër Moisiu University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance (2012) and a Scientific Master’s Degree in Banking and Finance (2014). Since 2019, she has been pursuing her doctoral studies at the University of National and World Economy, Sofia, Bulgaria.

Dr. Jonada Mamo has been a lecturer since 2013 in the Department of Finance and Accounting at Aleksandër Moisiu University. Her field of study and specialization is in Accounting. She teaches various courses, including Accounting Fundamentals, Financial Accounting, Bank Accounting, and Accounting for Financial Institutions.
Dr. Jonada Mamo graduated from Aleksandër Moisiu University, Durrës, with a degree in Business Administration (2010) and a Scientific Master's Degree in Banking and Finance (2012). She earned the title of Doctor of Sciences in Finance and Accounting from the Agricultural University of Tirana in 2018.
Previously, Dr. Jonada Mamo held the position of Economist in an accounting firm for several years. In the 2015 local elections, she was elected as a member of the Durrës Municipal Council and served as a member of the Economy Commission for the Durrës Municipality. In 2016, she earned the title of "Certified Accountant", certified by IEKA. Later, in 2018, she graduated from the Albanian School of Political Studies.

Elfrida Taraku has been a full-time lecturer at Aleksandër Moisiu University, Durrës, in the Faculty of Business since 2014, after serving as a part-time lecturer at the same university since 2012. She teaches courses such as Financial Basics, Auditing, and Banking Control. She began her doctoral studies in 2021 at the Faculty of Business, UAMD, with a focus on Finance and Accounting. Elfrida Taraku graduated from the Faculty of Economics, University of Tirana, in Finance (1986) with an Integrated Second-Level Degree.
Previously, Elfrida Taraku held key roles in both public and private sectors. She served as: Head of Finance, Economic Director, and Board Member at the Refrigeration Enterprise, Durrës, until 2000. Head of Finance in a private economic unit. From 2004 to 2013, she worked at the Supreme State Audit Institution in Tirana as an Auditor, Chief Auditor, and Acting Director. She has been certified as an external auditor by several international institutions: Netherlands Court of Audit for "Integrity Audit Methodology" and "Performance Audit Methodology." National Audit Office, London, for "Human Resources Theory and Practice" and "Financial Audit Theory and Practice." Center of Excellence in Finance, Ljubljana, for "Design and Management of Large Taxpayer Offices" and "Introduction and Tax Reform." NIK of Poland for "The Seminar of Performance Auditing" organized by the Polish Supreme Audit Office. SIGMA for "Parallel Auditing of European Union Funds."

Dr. Arjeta Hallunovi is the author of several monographs published internationally, co-author of the books "Financial Basics" and "Financial Markets and Institutions", and author of the lecture series "Credit Risk Management." She has authored numerous scientific papers indexed by Impact Factor and Thomson Reuters and has participated in scientific conferences in Italy, Montenegro, Hungary, the UK, Germany, Singapore, France, Canada, Poland, and other countries.
She has participated in numerous Erasmus+ Teaching Mobilities as part of exchange programs with various universities. Additionally, she has been involved in several Summer Schools, trainings, and forums in Italy, Canada, France, Spain, Romania, Serbia, and other countries.
She is also a member of the editorial board of several international journals, including The Educational Review-USA, Journal of Finance and Accounting-USA, Academic Journal of Accounting and Finance, and Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computation-USA. Additionally, she serves as a scientific collaborator at the Institute for Scientific Research and Development in Montenegro and is a member of UdECom Balkan.
Dr. Arjeta Hallunovi has been a member of the Programme Committee, editor of the Book of Abstracts, and a moderator at the Faculty of Business Conference. She has also organized several activities in the field of Finance, involving experts in the discipline.
