UAMD leads the Erasmus+ project, “Blended Education in the Western Balkans Universities” – Ndërkombëtarizim

Aleksandër Moisiu University of Durrës welcomed the first two-day physical meeting of the project "Education of
Combined at Western Balkan Universities (Bleded Education in the Western Balkans
Universities – BEWBU)
, a project within the framework of the European Erasmus+ program. The meeting took place on 22 and 23 January 2025 with the participation of 11 partner universities in the project, eight of which are from the Western Balkans and three from the European Union, as well as three Ministers of Education of the Western Balkans. UAMD is the leader of this project.


The Rector of UAMD, Prof. Dr. Shkëlqim Fortuzi, welcomed the project partners, emphasizing that this is the starting point of a fruitful three-year collaboration.

“Dear partners, I thank you for your presence today in Durrës. This is the beginning of a cooperation with you within the framework of Erasmus+ and, why not, also of new bilateral cooperations. At UAMD you will always find a reliable partner, ready to cooperate with you in the future,” Prof. Fortuzi expressed, among others.

On behalf of the partners from the European Union, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Gunnar Peterson from West University in Sweden welcomed the participants. He underlined that due to constant changes in society and education, there is a great need for improvements. “Society and education, but also academic education, have changed and need to improve. This is exactly what this project aims to do,” he said. Prof. Peterson.

On the other hand, on behalf of the partners from the Western Balkans, Prof. Dr. Tamara Pribišev Beleslin from the University of Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, welcomed the event. “This project is proof that partnership and cooperation can open new doors. Moreover, it contributes to the expansion of our education system, both at the local and regional levels,” she emphasized. Prof. Beleslin.

Meanwhile, the general coordinator of this project, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Elda Tartari, presented the roadmap for the next three years. During the presentation, she explained the goals and objectives of the cooperation, which are based on the highest standards of the Erasmus+ program. She underlined that, based on the work of this group of professionals, products and policies are expected that will impact the quality of the educational systems of the participating countries. These products, she said, will serve as a model for other universities.
Project BEWBU Erasmus strengthens blended learning. Furthermore, it improves internationalization and promotes innovation in the region. As a result, it creates new opportunities for students, academic staff, and educational institutions.
