On May 8–10, 2025, at the "Aleksandër Moisiu" University in Durrës, an activity was held
three-day event within the framework of the international project “Hate Speech: Democracy and Youth”.
This project is part of the cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Sports of the Republic of
Albania and the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation of Kosovo, and has
as the main objective the fight against hate speech and intolerance through media education
and youth empowerment.
The working group meeting took place within the framework of Activity No. 2 at UAMD, where the following participated:
Prof.Assoc.Dr. Renata Tokrri, Prof.Assoc.Dr. Eva Teqja (Allushi), Prof.Assoc.Dr. Artan Nimani,
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kimete Canaj.
On the first day, the purpose, methodology and expected results of the project were presented. Discussion
focused on the importance of analyzing hate speech in Albania and Kosovo, as well as on
building a clear methodology for its monitoring and analysis.
Following this, a technical session was held on the methodological structure of the project, where the following were defined:
key components and criteria for case analysis through the documentary research process.
On the second day, discussions focused on analyzing the internal and external factors that
affect the feasibility of the project.
At the meeting, elements such as internal organization were emphasized,
the team's capacities and the importance of cooperation with local actors in both countries. Then,
participants engaged in discussions about opportunities for institutionalizing the results of
project through partnerships and policy-making mechanisms.
The third day began with a summary of the work previously carried out and continued with group work.
for the preparation of a draft methodological and analytical summary of the project.
The organizers planned the next steps for the completion of the documentation, the distribution of
tasks and preparation for the public presentation of the results. The meeting closed with a session
reflective and planning for the follow-up activity to be held in the city of Gjakova.
This activity represents an important step towards raising awareness and empowering young people about
to combat discrimination and hate speech, and highlights the importance of regional cooperation
in promoting democratic values.
