UAMD Strengthens International Engagement in the Blue Economy through the BLUE ECOSYSTEM Project

On July 9-10, 2025, "Aleksandër Moisiu" University of Durrës participated in the next international meeting of the BLUE ECOSYSTEM project, held in Cyprus, at the premises of the Cyprus Marine & Maritime Institute in Larnaca.

At this event, UAMD was represented by:

  • Prof. Dr. Azeta Tartaraj
  • Prof. Asoc. Dr. Brunela Trebicka
  • Dr. Ariola Harizi

The meeting focused on further developing blue innovation, accelerating local solutions to environmental and social challenges, and strengthening international cooperation in the field of sustainable marine and coastal development.

During the working sessions, the following were discussed:

  • the status of implementation of TRAIN LAB laboratories in each partner country,
  • selecting territorial solutions and building the program of upcoming activities,
  • creating a book with good examples for the development of blue sectors,
  • and initiatives for the sustainability of project results even after its completion.

UAMD's participation in this project comes as part of the university's ongoing commitment to contribute to strengthening research, education and innovation capacities in Albania, bringing contemporary practices to teaching and collaborating with local communities for sustainable development.

The BLUE ECOSYSTEM project is funded by the Interreg Euro-MED program and brings together partners from different Mediterranean countries, with the aim of creating an integrated ecosystem that fosters the economic development of blue sectors and the sustainable growth of coastal areas.

"Aleksandër Moisiu" University will continue to engage in these initiatives, bringing direct contributions to sustainable development and increasing the quality of research and higher education in the country.
