“ALEKSANDER MOISIU” UNIVERSITY OF DURRA AND JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT OF ALBANIA INVITE YOU TO JOIN THE UNIVERSITY DEBATE CLUB

The Debate Club has been established and operating since 2019 and includes students from different faculties and years. The club offers the students involved a tool to build a culture of debate and research, gives them the opportunity to be engaged young people, part of a national and international network of debaters, and develop social responsibility.

The University's partnership with JAA has enabled students, part of this Club, to gain knowledge and skills from trainings conducted by JAA on Debate Format, Critical Thinking, and Public Communication each year.

Involvement in the JAA network gives students the opportunity to participate in national and international competitions and expand their skills and contacts with young people and professionals beyond the classrooms where they study.

 7 BENEFITS OF BEING A DEBATER

1. Debate is a great way to meet nice, interesting, intellectually stimulating people not only at university, but all over the world.

2. As a debater, you will complement your academic background by acquiring critical thinking, active listening, and will develop communication skills that are invaluable in your personal and professional life.

3. The skills you develop as a debater will carry over into your academic life. They will have a very positive impact on how you approach exam questions, how you respond during an oral exam, or how you write an essay or thesis.

4. Debate strengthens your self-confidence. It will give you more and more reasons to deepen your beliefs, but it will also lower your level of absolute certainty. It will help you become a better listener and a deeper thinker, and it will educate you in tolerance, as you will be able to understand the point of view of others.

6. You will improve your language skills in your native language, but you will also improve your knowledge of the English language, as most international debate tournaments are held in English.
