In a recent announcement, National Agency for Financing Higher Education (AKFAL) has announced the opening of applications for Student loan for the current academic year. This initiative aims to financially support Albanian students in meeting the costs of their studies.
What does a Student Loan include?
The student loan covers:
- Tuition fee: The amount paid for attending academic programs.
- Living costs: Student daily expenses, which are calculated up to the national minimum wage limit, according to the latest decision of the Council of Ministers.
Who can apply for a load ?
To be eligible for this loan, the applicant must meet these criteria:
- Citizenship and residence in Albania.
- Enrollment in a higher education institution në vend.
How to apply?
Applications are open throughout the month February and can be done through the government portal e-Albania, by following these steps:
- Log in to your account at e-Albania.
- Request the “Student Loan Application” service.
- Complete the electronic application form.
- Upload the necessary documents, which include:
- Proof that you are registered and studying at an institution of higher education (original document).
- Certificate of grades and high school diploma.For first-year students, the matriculation certificate with the list of grades must be uploaded.
- Certificate from public educational institution confirming that you are not a beneficiary of financial support, scholarships or tuition fee exemption.
- Proof of residence.
Selection criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on:
- The amount of the requested loan.
- Type of study program where the student is registered.
- Academic results of the applying student.
