Every year, on December 3, the world comes together to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. This day is an excellent opportunity to reflect on the importance of creating an inclusive society and to raise awareness about the challenges and potential of individuals with disabilities. \u201cAleksand\u00ebr Moisiu\u201d University of Durr\u00ebs (UAMD), as an institution of higher education, strongly supports the principle of equality and inclusion, being an inspiring example for Albanian society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why is this day important?<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

The International Day of Persons with Disabilities has been established by the United Nations since 1992 as a global call to promote the rights of these individuals and to foster equality. In Albania, this day takes on special significance, given the social and institutional challenges that still exist. As part of its mission, UAMD works to create an educational environment open to all, guaranteeing access and support for students with disabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main challenge for people with disabilities<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

  1. Discrimination and social prejudice<\/strong> In Albania, discrimination still poses a barrier for people with disabilities, affecting their employment and educational opportunities. UAMD aims to break down these barriers by promoting an inclusive culture within the campus.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Lack of accessibility<\/strong> Public spaces and infrastructure are often not adapted for individuals with special needs. UAMD is constantly working to improve its facilities, including dedicated equipment and other practical solutions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Social isolation<\/strong> Lack of awareness in the community often keeps these individuals isolated. \u201cAleksand\u00ebr Moisiu\u201d University promotes activities and projects that encourage interaction and inclusion of all students.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n
